Obituary for Kenneth Frank Mackey

Ken Mackey 56, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon passed away from the medical complications on Friday, September 8, 2017. He was born in Mount Vernon on October 18, 1960, to Frank A. and Mary I. (Bowen) Mackey. Kenny graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the class of 1979. After High School he worked at Truss Engineering; he also worked in Alaska for two seasons. Ken enjoyed fishing and motorcycling, and it was a motorcycle accident on May 22, 1990 that resulted in him becoming a Quadriplegic.
Kenny was a true sports fan and after his accident he still kept his Husky season tickets and his supportive friends would take him to the Husky Games. He also played fantasy football with his great friends.
Ken is survived by his parents, Frank and Mary Mackey of Mount Vernon; brother, Steven and his wife, Rhonda Mackey of Burlington; sister, Marita and her husband, Ron Cantrell of Edmonds and special nephew Ryan Mackey - along with other nephew and nieces.
A get together of classmates and friends will be held at Max Dale's Restaurant on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 4:00 PM.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
