Obituary for Keith Stanford Johnson

Keith Stanford Johnson, 85 died on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at home in Mount Vernon, Washington.
Keith was born in Burlington, Washington on July 6, 1932 to Beatrice and Arthur Johnson, joining his brother A. Elliott Johnson.
Keith attended and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1951 where he was a varsity member of the Bulldog’s first wrestling team.
After high school Keith joined the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Roosevelt during the Korean War.
After receiving his honorable discharge in 1953 he returned to Mount Vernon and enrolled at Skagit Valley Junior College (Associates degree). It was here he met his future wife, Alison Roberta Johnson, in typing class. Keith and Alison were married at the Lynden Methodist Church on March 12, 1955, with Rev. Wells officiating.
Following in his family’s footsteps, Keith began his career in real estate. He joined his brother at Johnson Realty. Keith then opened his own office, Riverside Realty. Deciding he wanted more challenges, in the mid-1950s Keith created his first residential development. In ensuing decades, he created well thought out developments including Parkway Drive, Thunderbird, Cascade Ridge, Thunderbird Village, College Heights and Colonial Mobile Home Park. He also acquired and managed the popular Riverside Lane bowling alley and built the John King Rehabilitation Center AKA Skagit Recovery Center. His last major acquisition was the Cedardale Meadows horse farm.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling, especially to his cabin at Lake Francois, Canada. He and Alison also made several treks to Homer, Alaska by way of driving the Alcan Highway and traveled to Shishmaref, Alaska to visit daughter Kari. Keith was an avid card player, bridge being his favorite game. Keith was also an avid Husky fan.
Keith is survived by his four daughters: Danya Wolf (Don) of Mount Vernon, Lale Johnson (Tony Flynn) of Wickenburg, Arizona, Kari Greiner (David) of Homer, Alaska, Moni Butler (Jim) of Porter, Texas.
He is also survived by brother A. Elliott Johnson, as well as grandchildren Seaver and Rogan Milnor, Bryson (Kari) and Landen Campbell, Louden (Sydney) and Jorden Greiner, Brooke (Hans) Heinzer and Kellen (Megan) Butler, step-grandchildren Chris and Amanda Wolf, and Shane Flynn, and great-grandchildren Hans, Andrea and Archer Heinzer, and step great-grandchild Emma Flynn.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alison, and his parents.
A private interment took place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in La Conner. There will be a public memorial service at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception.
