Obituary for Janice L. Sager

Janice L. Sager, 81 of Bow passed away unexpectedly on February 9th, 2018. She was born in Seattle to George and Lynne Martin on April 9th, 1936. She was a frequent visitor to the Skagit Valley where her extended family resided and her grandmother had been a pioneer.
Janice graduated from Westchester High School in Los Angeles, CA then returned to the area to attend Skagit Valley College. She met Robert Sager at a picnic at Lake Samish and they married on July 15, 1955. They owned a successful business Sager Tile, Stucco and Plastering and she was the bookkeeper/office manager for Dr. Voegtlin and Dr. Maguire for several years.
In addition to caring for five children, managing the family business and her medical career, Jan enjoyed many hobbies. After retirement she became an EMT for Big Lake Fire Dept. Jan was an excellent cook, skilled hostess and quilter (her quilts won many blue ribbons at local fairs). She was an avid reader, enjoyed singing and belonged to the church choir and Sweet Adelines. Bob and Jan enjoyed traveling, fishing/crabbing, and family time.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her many contributions and passionate love of life and learning.
Janice is survived by her sons, Mike (Carmen) Sager of Samish Island, Joe (Debbie) Sager of Snohomish and Steve (Julie) Sager of Mount Vernon; Kim Sager of Burlington and Dani (Dean) Wesen of Bow; grandsons, Adam Sager, Rob (Stephanie) Sager, Zac (Katie) Sager all of Samish Island, Derek Sager of Bellevue, Kyler Sager of Bellingham, Sam Drake of Oakland, CA, Kevin & Korey Sager of Mount Vernon, Drew & Dylan Wesen of Bow; granddaughters, Zorah Sager of Las Vegas, NV and Kelsey Sager of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren Avery, Mason, and Ella of Samish Island and her brother Ron and his family. She recently lost her husband Bob of 62 years and is also preceded in death by parents George Martin and Lynne (Martin) Balch.

Visitation for Janice will be held at Kern Funeral Home Monday February 19th from 10am-5pm. A public memorial service will be held at Allen United Methodist Church Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 1pm. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
