Obituary for Dale Castle Pierson

Dale C. Pierson 89, lifelong resident of Skagit Valley, passed away in Burlington on Monday, September 18, 2017. He was born in Burlington on November 9, 1927, to Harold S. and Corinne (Castle) Pierson. Dale attended Burlington Schools, graduating from Burlington High School with the class of 1945. After graduation he attended WSU for one year before transferring to Western Washington State College, where he graduated. After graduation he married the love of his life, Marjorie Mae Hedlund at the Beavermarsh Family Home, on December 26, 1950. Following his marriage he served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War 1951-1952. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, he worked for and then managed and operated the Pierson Family Farm dehydrating company, which produced feed for livestock.
Dale and Marjorie were avid travelers, traveling the world far and near, visiting many countries and traveling local in their motorhomes. Dale enjoyed the jazz music of New Orleans and was star struck when in the presence of Pete Fountain, playing the clarinet and saxophone.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of 66 years; son, Jerry Pierson of Livingston, MT; daughter, Nancy Kruger and her husband Craig of Marysville; son, David Pierson and his wife Debby of Burlington; daughter, Karen Pierson of Bellingham; four grandchildren, Cara and Eric Pierson, Kristen Mowrer and Katie Pierson; two great grandchildren, Finnegan Pierson and Maeben Mowrer; two sisters-in-law, Katrina Pierson and Marilyn Gardner. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lyle “Bud” Pierson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, 11:00 AM at Kern Funeral Home, with a reception to follow in Kern’s Social Room. Pastor Ron Deegan will be officiating.
