Obituary for Clarence "Clancy" Ernest Miller

Clancy Miller was born Wednesday, October 19, 1932, and started his journey to Heaven with angels at his side on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Skagit Valley Hospital with family at his bedside. He was born in Heart Butte, Pondera, Montana, on the Blackfoot Indian Reservation. His mother was the local Postmaster and his father owned and operated the grocery store and pool hall. His family then moved to Spokane, Washington when Clancy was 10 years old. Clancy had a love for music and interest in Opera. After high school he was accepted to Gonzaga University into their music department he was drafted at the time of the Korean War and joined the U.S. Navy, leaving his schooling of the music to serve in the Navy. He was stationed to NAS Whidbey, Oak Harbor, Washington. In his free time while in the Navy he attended a carnival in Anacortes where he saw and met the love of his life, and knew this girl would be something special. He married Myrna Jones of Anacortes on December 20, 1954. This past year they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Clancy went on to serve as a Deputy for the Skagit County Sheriff’s Department after making Mount Vernon his hometown. After his service as a Deputy, Clancy stated working for Cascade Nature Gas, from where he retired. Clancy was a devout Christian and had true love for his Savior Jesus Christ. He served as Deacon for many years at the Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon. He loved to mentor and teach the word of God to those who would ask. Clancy was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Leona Miller; sisters, Edna Wagner and Violet Smith. Clancy is survived by his wife Myrna; daughter, Colleen Stalcup (Don); grandsons, Eric (Lauren) Stalcup, Scott(Chelsea) Stalcup and two great grandchildren, Lucas and Rylie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, & Wednesday, January 17th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00, Noon, at Kern Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, at Kern Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow the service. A graveside service will be held 2:15 PM, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Mount Vernon, WA.
