Obituary for Charles Eugene Harmon

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Eugene Harmon (Carl, Jr.) of Yelm, Wa, announces his passing on Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Lakewood, WA, at the age of 68 years. Charles was a unique individual who had a laid-back personality. He was born October 11, 1949 in Rangely, Colorado. He was born fourth out of five children and was surrounded by sisters. Throughout his childhood, his family moved around from Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. He enjoyed playing in the Farmingon High School orchestra where he graduated in 1968 before moving to Washington State. Music provided him with a college scholarship and he attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA . While attending Western, he married a fellow classmate and they had a daughter. To provide for his small family, he opted out of college and enlisted into the Army. Shortly thereafter, a son was born. Charles gave many years serving his country being stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas and at Ft. Lewis, WA (Joint Base Lewis McCord). Charles ended his military career in the 80’s and settled in Lakewood, WA, where he successfully obtained a career at Western State Hospital until his retirement. He raised his family and enjoyed hobbies of riding his motorcycles, camping, listening to rock music, and playing instruments of clarinet and guitar. Charles enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He spent his days dotting on his lady in his life, Lucy. She was his fur companion of almost a decade. His beloved chihuahua gave the love back with many kisses and snuggles. Charles is survived by his step-mother Nadine (Bob) Fernando of Bellingham, WA; sisters, Carol (Billy) Munn of Lone Star Texas, Sue (Dennis) Robinson of Collate Grove Oregon, Dona Housh, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and family. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Harold) Taylor of Tacoma; Son, Paul Harmon of Tacoma; granddaughters, Shalayna & Kaela; grandson, Damian Harmon; great grandson Joel. He is preceded in death by his mother Dixie O’Dell Launch Harmon; father Carl Eugene Harmon, Sr and sister, Anita Louise. A Graveside Service will be held at Bay View Cemetery, 12496 Bayview Cemetery Rd. Mount Vernon, WA on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2pm.
