Marguerite Thein, age 91, a lifelong resident of Skagit Valley passed away October 3, 2008 in Anacortes at the San Juan Care Center where she has resided for 7-1/2 years.
She was born December 13, 1916 to Frank and Agnes (Bylund) Savage in LaConner, Washington. She graduated from LaConner High School in 1934. She was employed at the LaConner School as a secretary after graduating from there and before marrying.
She married Francis Thein November 22, 1938. They built a home on Pleasant Ridge, where they lived most of their lives. She was a stay at home loving mother. She did a lot of cooking, baking and canning of fruit and vegetable from the garden. She enjoyed skiing at Mt. Baker, camping, and hunting pheasant in Eastern Washington. Francis and Marguerite had three children; John, Francis (Bud) Jr. and Cathy Thein.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis; her parents Frank and Agnes Savage; her son Francis (Bud) Thein, Jr. and two brothers, Fritz and William Savage.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy Thein and her son John Thein and his wife Gail; sister in-law Margaret Soma, all living in Mount Vernon; 4 grandchildren, Robert Thein and Shannon of LaCenter, Washington; John Thein Jr. and Teri, Karl Thein, and Karla Schwan of Anchorage, AK ; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at San Juan Care Center for the wonderful care they gave mom over the years.
No memorial Service is planned. She will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
