Virginia G. McQuary

Passed away on Sun. June 4, 2006 and resided in Bellingham, WA

Virginia G. McQuary, 90, of Bellingham, went to her Heavenly home Sunday, June 4, 2006 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born on April 30, 1916 in Anacortes, one of four children of Ingvald and Emma (McDougall) Iversen.  Virginia grew up in Anacortes and graduated from Anacortes High School in 1933.  She was united in marriage to Herschel G. McQuary on January 29, 1934 in Tacoma, WA and they settled in Mount Vernon in 1940.  Virginia worked for the Horns Department store (Mount Vernon) for several years before moving to Bellingham in 1958, where she was employed with The Bon Marché.

She was a faithful member of Immanuel Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and hosted home Bible studies.  Virginia loved her family, church and church family.

Virginia is survived by one son, Mike McQuary and wife Wanda of La Conner, and one daughter, Maureen Blackstone and husband Beryl of Mount Vernon.  She is also survived by her four grandchildren (and seven great-grandchildren): Steve  Blackstone  and wife Polly of Burlington; Jennifer Blackstone (and children, Dakota, Emma and Madilyn Hurst) of Sioux Falls, SD; Danette Humphrey (and children, Logan and Morgan Humphrey) of Arlington, WA; and Brian McQuary and wife Brenda (and children, Josh and Heather McQuary) of Colorado Springs, CO.  Also, she is survived by a foster granddaughter, Janet Roberson of Marysville.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel in February 2003 and her three brothers, Sheridan, Merrill and Raymond Iversen.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful staff of Bellingham Healthcare and Rehab Facility for all the years of loving care given to our Mother and Grandma. 

A memorial service will be held in July, on Saturday the 22nd, 2006 at 11:00AM at Immanuel Bible Church, 2000 North St., Bellingham, WA (360-733-0672).  Memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Bible Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 12721 30th Ave NE, Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125.
